September as Small Business Month in Oakland
The Oakland Merchants leadership forum has been a force in Oakland for almost two decades now...It's goal has been to assist small businesses with informational resources, mentoring and tools for helping businesses to become successful and profitable.
In 2011, Mayor Jean Quan declared September to be Small Business Month in Oakland. We would like to ask for your support in making this city-wide event an outstanding success.
The Oakland Merchant's Leadership Forum consists of representatives from all Oakland's neighborhood small business districts. The organization's purpose is to support small businesses by:
- Expanding the Shop Oakland campaign and support for Oakland Grown
- Striving to keep tax dollars in Oakland
- Enhancing the retail sales of every business
- Promoting Oakland neighborhoods as shopping destination points
- Publicizing courses and seminars on owning and operating a small business
- Coordinating positive community efforts such as cleans ups, and neighborhood beautification.
- Collaborating with city staff, school board, clergy and other groups to achieve success.
- Creating a comprehensive calendar of events .
- And uniting the parallel work in our communities and of making our streets safe.
We are excited and enthused as we launch September as small business month in Oakland, as an early beginning of our holiday shopping season this year.
In order to make this a success, we need your support. The primary source of funding will come from sponsorships. Please send the highest level of support you can.
